Doug grew up in the Charlotte, NC area and went to school at UNC Chapel Hill. After college he worked for several companies in various sales roles before moving into the M&A arena. That experience left him with a desire to build his own business.
Telecommunications and technology were rapidly growing areas, full of opportunity to significantly help business customers in a win-win fashion. Doug’s vision was to build an organization to fill in the gaps in the processes for implementation and support, while providing a carrier neutral, customer focused organization, that built long term relationships with its customers. This led to the birth of Venture Group in 1992. Specifically, Doug saw that the industry was oriented to providing services through direct sales representatives, that had little vested interest in the customer, whose job it was to maximize the total amount a customer spent. They only offered the solutions they had, regardless of whether it was one that best met customer needs or was the most cost effective one available. By providing the customer with a consultative process, where existing needs were examined first and then solutions for all carriers were examined and carefully negotiated, the customer received much better solutions for less.
In addition, he built a service implementation organization to address additional challenges that produced much better outcomes for the clients. Within 10 years, Venture Group grew to over 1000 orders per day from new customers. This success provided the organization the opportunity to obtain dedicated support from the carriers and invest in automated web-based order management and tracking systems that further improved customer outcomes.
Throughout the years, Doug has continued to be an innovator in the Telecommunications world. He has developed the game changing solution of EnVision, along with creating Lightwave Solutions. He currently resides just outside of Charlotte in Weddington, NC with his wife and two children. In his free time Doug enjoys reading and, in similar fashion to one of his favorite authors Isaac Asimov, he grows more handsome and lovable every day.
Matt AllsoppDirector of Sales
Matt Allsopp's Bio
Matt grew up in the South Shore of Massachusetts. He was an avid athlete growing up and attended Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts, where he obtained a degree in Business. Matt is a veteran of the Massachusetts Army National Guard where he was a Combat Engineer. Coming from a family with deep roots in the Telecommunications industry, it was a natural fit for him. Upon graduation, Matt relocated Boston to join Allegiance Telecom. Career growth and warmer weather brought Matt to the Charlotte area. He worked for Deltacom and then was introduced to the Channel Sales with CNSG. From there, he went on to work for DecisionPoint Advisors which is an M&A Firm focused on Tech M&A as the Head of Business Development.
Matt’s passion for telecom led him back to work for BullsEye Telecom, a 100% channel focused aggregator working with large multi-location accounts. All this experience made him a natural fit to help lead Lightwave Solutions. Matt role within LSI is focused on building out the Sales Solutions division of the organization.
He still resides in the Charlotte area with his Wife and son. He enjoys being involved in his son’s sports and is a diehard Boston sports fan.
Chad Sorge's Bio
Chad was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. After attending the University of Cincinnati, he went to work for Cincinnati Bell. Once established in the telecommunications industry he joined PowerNet Global.
Chad spent 8 years with PowerNet Global where he engaged in multiple roles exposing him to many aspects of the industry. The last several years were in the role of Channel Development Manager. He was responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting channel partners across the country. It was in this role that he met and built a relationship with Doug Turpin, CEO of LSI.
Chad joined the sales organization in 2007, working out of their Savannah, GA sales office. Chad’s role is to help organizations such as consulting companies, accounting firms, private equity companies, MSP’s, VAR’s, technology providers, security companies, expense management firms, asset management firms, real estate management groups, and many other companies that have relationships with large customers to enhance the value of what they can provide by introducing our solutions to their clients.
Additionally, Chad helps to coordinate communication with the carrier’s direct team, our sales and operations organization, and the service providers customer.
Chad still resides in Savannah, GA with his wife of 20 years and 2 children. He is passionate about his faith, family, his kids’ sports and all things Bengals, Buckeyes, and Reds!
Mike Best's Bio
A Pennsylvania native, Mike has called the Carolinas home for the last 15 years. He has been described as ingenious techie with a passion for self-improvement, technology, the Appalachian Mountains, and anything food! Upon graduating college, Mike relocated to Charlotte to work in direct sales for Nuvox Communications. From there, he went on to successfully grow a relatively unknown Managed Services Provider, based out the Raleigh-Durham area, into a well-respected and sought-after Hosted VoIP provider within the Carolinas and beyond.
Adding depth to an already strong and talented team, Mike’s tenured background in sales, business development and account management has proven him to be a strong addition to Lightwave Solutions. Mike currently resides in Fort Mill, SC with his wife Tara and their two dogs.

Jenny Hinson's Bio
Jenny is a long time Telecommunications Industry veteran. With experience as a Client Retention Executive, Major Account Executive and Business Sales Manager, for several Major Telecom carriers, joining Lightwave Solutions ten years ago was a natural fit.
Jenny has a passion for building long term relationships with her clients and finding the right solution for their business needs.
She is highly skilled in strategic network planning, cost reduction and client satisfaction. Jenny works with multi-location complex accounts to procure and implement Hosted VOIP Solutions, infrastructure design, Life Cycle Management. She has also been a recipient of many high achievement awards for her success.
Jenny resides in Matthews, NC with her husband and enjoys traveling, family and good food (with a bit of Texas Pete or Tabasco!)

Shawn Mirman's Bio
Shawn grew up in Harrisburg, PA and relocated with his family in ’97 to Charlotte, NC (which pretty much makes him a local) where he attended school at UNC-Charlotte. Shawn’s love of technology, since childhood, led him to grow a successful career in Fin-tech and Mar-tech before eventually settling into the ever-changing landscape of Telecom.
The evolving nature of communications technology is what most intrigues Shawn and as he is keen to keeping up with the latest and greatest trends in connectivity and collaboration.
After being in direct sales for most of his career Shawn joined Lightwave Solutions to act as an advocate for businesses large and small as they navigate the complex options available today. He is motivated each day by his passion to help businesses solve problems using the most appropriate, future-ready technology, at the best price available.
Shawn, his partner Erin and their three children reside in Charlotte. If he is not in the office, he is probably out hiking or camping in the beautiful NC mountains. Shawn is also a big Steelers fan.
